Medic One Systems was established in 2012 by Mark and Rik whilst working together on HEMS.

Faced with partial solutions, broken workflows and an absence of operationally or clinically useful data, Mark and Rik were challenged to find an alternative. They realised that the only way to find a solution that was perfect rather than simply 'best-fit', was to design a platform themselves from the ground-up. Since then HEMSbase has become the UK’s de-facto standard for independent air ambulance trusts.

Mark and Rik have a long history of applying technology to improve the lives of medics - from establishing the world's first podcast specifically for anaesthetists to developing ad-hoc apps and software for staff rotas, knowledge sharing and monitoring oxygen consumption from a hospital's vacuum insulated evaporator. They are now launching CritR, an ODN Data Platform aimed at streamlining DOS reporting and establishing powerful network performance management capabilities.
